Can you tell me something about your desk setup?

I live in Moscow in a relatively mid-sized flat with several rooms one of which I use as my office/studio.

This particular setup consists of a custom build table from vintage floor woods, some shelfs to store my less frequently used stuff and a white leather sofa.

The chair in the pictures is just for photography purposes. I don’t sit on it all day long, it would be too painful. My new chair is arriving soon and it should be a fine addition to this setup.

Is there anything you would like to improve on this setup?

I carefully selected the items in my current setup, so not really.

I might, just might, get those Joey Roth ceramic speakers, since they look awesome, but I am very happy with B&W for now.

But one thing I definitiely want to change is the wiring. There are to much cables, they are all visible and I don’t really like it :)

Do you switch workspaces during your day? If yes, what’s the reason behind it?

I am a photographer so I often go somewhere to shoot, so it might be considered as changing workspaces. But typically I do stay in one place. I love my space.

Can you tell us something about the items on your desk?

The things that I like and kind of represent me is modern vintage stuff basically.

I have a few stationary items from here and there, such as wood tray or leather holder, which I’ve collected during my travels.

On my desk you find a Grovemade desk lamp and mouse pad. I love their products and I recently ordered the iPhone 6 dock.

For work I use 2 Apple Cinema displays. A new 27” glossy and an old 21” matte in conjunction with my Mac Pro.

I have a pair of Bowers & Wilkins MM-1 speakers and sometimes I use Sennheiser Momentum headphones with a headphone amplifier.

What are you doing to stay focused?

Work. When I’m in the zone, I’m very focused.

I try to motivate myself to finish all planned things in time and not postpone them to the next day/week to keep myself focused.

Other things that keep me focused are listening to music that I love and stay away from Facebook or Instagram.

I listen to all kinds of music. From classic rock, pop, electro to glitch hop. But my real love is electroswing and electro/glitch blues.

Here are two of my mixes to give you kind of an example:

Is there something on your desk which helps you stay focused? What is it?

Mouse and keyboard :) and my speakers.

What was your latest self improvement experiment?

I try to be more patient with customers. Both with my freelance clients and shop customers.

Where do you see yourself and your desk in the next 5 years?

I love what I do and I am great believer in niche approaches. Meaning that one person can do one job professionally and deliver hi-quality work. In my case it’s design, so I see my self a better designer/art-director in 5 years due to practice and experience but still doing the same stuff I love. I hope my desk can withstand 5 years of hard work on it, so I really hope I’ll still be able to use it then.
