Who are you and what do you do for a living?
I’m a freelance web designer, developer and seo expert. I’m also the founder of chickswhocode.com and barterentrepreneur.com.
What’s the story behind that desk?
I bought this desk at good old ikea as my previous desk was feeling a little uninspiring and small. I fell in love with the white clean look and glass doors. The idea to theme my desk came from a re-branding I was doing on my chicks who website and so I decided to bring in some feminine and elegant colours/looks to my simple Ikea desk. Hence the polka dots, pinks and gold accessories scattered about. I love that I can switch sides and change the look of my desk to suit my mood
Can you tell us something about the items on/around your desk?
I always have my pink and gold cup of tea (even if i’m just drinking water from it) it just makes the day feel special. I also have my notebooks and diary around me incase I need to sketch out or take down notes for any ideas I have cooking up in my head. Sometimes I burn candles, incense or leave the diffuser to work its magic. Fresh flowers come and go, occasionally I’ll fill the gold jar with a nice bouquet, other times I just leave the jar on it’s own to add a bit a different look and feel to my desk.
Is there anything you would like to improve on this setup?
I wish it was looking out into something very scenic. A window that will bring in some light as I tend to be at my desk for long hours.
Is there something on your desk which helps you stay focused? What is it?
It’s really important to remind myself to have fun when I’m working as things can get pretty intense and serious sometimes so a quick glance at the gold foiled quotes around me reminds me of what’s truly important in the messages they say and the gold touches also remind me to always bring a touch quality to everything I do.
